Een medewerker van de ABN Amro kon aan de naam van Salih Kilic niet zien dat hij uit Nederland komt. “Daarom moet u op afspraak komen om wat dingen door te spreken.” Die afspraak kan dus op zijn vroegst pas in september, over acht maanden.

Nadat ABN Amro lucht kreeg van het verhaal, dat hij op 9 februari op zijn Instagram-pagina deelde, heeft de bank de aanvraag opnieuw bekeken, aldus Kilic. In een update-bericht plaatst de Rotterdamse fotograaf op zijn Instagram-pagina: “ABN Amro heeft me gebeld. Ze willen over twee weken met me in gesprek, in plaats van de eerder genoemde acht maanden.”

Ook heeft de fotograaf een melding gedaan van discriminatie bij de bank. Daarover heeft hij dinsdag 18 februari een gesprek bij ABN Amro. Tot die tijd wil Kilic niet inhoudelijk reageren op de zaak.
